Messagepedia in the Enterprise

6/15/2025 Sri Chilukuri

Since our beta launch on May 1, a common question has been how to deploy Messagepedia in an enterprise with multiple employees. The answer is surprisingly simple: install the software on a server on premises or in the cloud (any Mac or Windows PC that can be always online), create topics, and invite those who need access to those topics.

Here's how we deployed Messagepedia at our company and have been using it for the past several months to securely and privately sync, share, collaborate, and manage content among ourselves (we all work remotely), as well as with family, friends, and colleagues who have been helping us test the software:

  1. We installed the software using a company email ID on an old Mac mini (actual photo above). We then created various topics to share files the company needs to control and own—tax and financial records, board matters, legal documents, employment agreements, and even new software updates—and invited people who need access to those topics.
  2. Invitees installed the software on their laptops using their personal email IDs to access the topics they were invited to.
  3. Invitees even created their own topics as needed to share and collaborate with others inside and outside the company. Often, they also invited the same Mac mini to their topics so that it could serve as their "proxy" when their laptops were offline.

On a separate note, it has been exciting, and humbling, to watch early users in action over the past six weeks. While most users had no issues with downloading, installing, and using the software, we certainly noticed areas for improvement. So, we just released a software update with several improvements, including adding a file chooser. If you are already using Messagepedia, simply quit and restart the app to get the latest update. Otherwise, Get Messagepedia today and start harnessing and protecting your collective intelligence!
